Release notes

This page contains a list of features, changes, known issues and known limitations of the Nerve releases.

Version 3.0.0

This version was released on July 25, 2025. Unless otherwise stated, all known issues and limitations of the previous version are still valid.

Features

Component Features
Secure Boot Nerve 3.0 can be used with Secure Boot activated.
Disk Encryption Nerve 3.0 uses new partitioning and encrypts the workloads and workload storages.
Support for Moxa DRP-A100 Nerve 3.0 supports now Moxa DRP-A100-E4-2L4C-T.

As of Release 3.0. of the Management System we removed the Korean Language from the Language options. Devices MFN 100 and Siemens IPC427E became deprecated and we do not recommend them for new designs.

Refer to What's new in 3.0.0? for more information on new features.

Improvements

Docker Networks Range definitions

The IP range of these internal docker networks can be now changed during installation time.

  • mgmt
  • wan
  • extern1-3
  • isolated1-5

Please contact the Nerve Support for details.

NTP Definition

The URL of the used ntp servers can now be configured during installation time. Please contact the Nerve Support for details.

Update of python Nerve API and CLI scripts

We updated the python reference source code that can incorporate the Nerve API into your control script. A new CLI tool using the python scripts was released. See here for more details.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed issue, that the Local UI does not display progress information during volume export operations.
  • Fixed issue, that the Workload Audit Logs are currently not stored on dedicated storage, which does not comply with the requirements outlined in IEC 62443-4-2.
  • Fixed issue, when the Local Repository configuration is saved via the Local UI, the password is returned in plaintext in the response to a GET API request.
  • Fixed issues, where in rare cases, an error window may appear in the Connection Manager. The functionality of the Connection Manager is not affected by this.

Known issues and limitations

  • Changing an external interface in LocalUI (e.g. extern1) to unconfigured (from previously on DHCP) may yield in losing the network connection.
  • DNA State is not updated, when updating a version of a Workload, on a device where the target DNA file did not included workload hashes.
  • MFN 100, Siemens Simatic BX39 and Siemens Simatic IPC427 are not supported yet for Secure boot and Disk Encryption operation. Installation of Nerve 3.0 is potentially failing.

Scaling and performance limitations

This release has been tested to perform within the following scaling boundaries:

Maximum number of concurrent devices 200
Maximum number of concurrently logged in users
Maximum workload size 50 GB
Maximum number of concurrent remote access sessions
Maximum number of workloads in workload repository 200
Maximum data upload per node 5 datagrams per second with at least 10 sensor values for 200 nodes in parallel.
