This page contains a list of features, changes, known issues and known limitations of the Nerve releases.
Version 2.8.1
This version was released on June 6, 2024. Unless otherwise stated, all known issues and limitations of the previous version are still valid.
Features
Component | Features |

Base system | Added an installer image including the KVM hypervisor. Deprecated XEN hypervisor images. Moved the CODESYS runtime into the host. Notes about installation images and updating through the Management System There are two installation image variants in 2.8.1:

Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where an error 500 was caused when migrating CODESYS workloads from an older Management System to a newer one.
- Fixed an issue where reuploading a previously erroneous DNA configuration file would produce an unhelpful system notification.
- Fixed an issue where it was possible to control workloads while the cancellation of a DNA configuration was in progress.
- Fixed an issue for offline license activation where the system would redirect to the Local UI, even though a wrong license was used. This would leave the user unable to re-apply a license or log in to the Local UI.
- Fixed an issue where the information in the node details view would be incorrect if the node had gone offline right before.
- Fixed an issue where assigning a role to a user that only contained Nerve DNA permissions would cause the user to see the Logs tab in the node details view instead of the DNA tab.
- Fixed an issue where the Management System would display the wrong WAN IP address for a node.
- Fixed an issue where applying configuration files to a Docker workload through the Local UI would not work even though the system reported a successful application.
- Fixed an issue where the process of uploading a larger VM workload image would be aborted with an unhelpful error message.
Known issues and limitations
- On rare occasions after a reboot of the Management System, some nodes may need up to one hour to come back online. No further action is needed.
- Capabilities might be missing from the node capabilities list in the Local UI after a reboot. Refreshing the page solves the issue.
- On KVM hypervisor installations, the CPU usage values for Docker workloads are incorrect. Due to the hypervisor change, the algorithm needs to be corrected.
- The UI for applying configuration files sometimes does not update after adding a ZIP file, leaving the Apply button grayed out. Trying to add the ZIP file again might solve the issue.
- There are inconsistencies in the naming of workload statuses. The terms "Pause" and "Suspend" are used interchangeably.
Compatibility matrix

Scaling and performance limitations
This release has been tested to perform within the following scaling boundaries:
Maximum number of concurrent devices | 200 |
Maximum number of concurrently logged in users | 5 |
Maximum workload size | 50 GB |
Maximum number of concurrent remote access sessions | 3 |
Maximum number of workloads in workload repository | 200 |
Maximum data upload per node | 5 datagrams per second with at least 10 sensor values for 200 nodes in parallel. |
